Those of us who played WoW and were in the guilds Ordo Sanguis & Elements will likely remember a night elf priest named Povall (recently changed to Scoobydont). How could we forget him right? He cracked many of us up getting lost in instances and not knowing what to do in all kinds of situations. I can't count the times I remember Kent saying something like "Povall, go down the stairs and turn left" or "Quicker heals, Povall, quicker heals". Sometimes he tried our patience, but all in all, he was a good guy. And, as I learned tonight - a talented one.

I just found out that the man behind the toon, Carl Grossman, died last night. I don't know any details and likely never will but I thought I would post here for those who knew him in game. A friend of his logged into WoW on his toon Monday night to let those who knew him know. He also mentioned his site on youtube at http://www.youtube.com/user/CarlGrossman . I did not recall that he was a guitarist as I don't remember him ever mentioning it. It is a talent I don't have but one I admire among those who do.

Rest In Peace, Carl, ... and thanks for the part you played.

Jereld
Oh Poval

I'll miss him, he was such a sweet friendly man, never a harsh word left his mouth.
I'm not sure what to say... just stricken really.

Thread for him is here on Alleria forms.

I'll be holding a gathering in his honor Friday night.
Friday August 28th, 10pm server, Center of Black Rock mountain, PST Kentiam

In WoW, danger is often preceded by a lengthy warning celebration. For example: You are a HntrPhüc, Beastmaster Hunter, shooting arrows into an ogre. It grunts, “I am throw a rock at you!” A dark shadow marks the area where the rock will fall, and a bar appears under the ogre’s name slowly counting down a spell called, “There is a Fucking Rock Falling On Your Head.” Six seconds later and you are now HntrPhüc, Meat Toothpaste. In Super Mario Brothers, taking a step in any direction in under six seconds would be considered a minor challenge, if not an insult. To a Warcraft player it’s impossible.
I'm sorry to hear that. He was always a very sweet guy, and tried harder than many.

What can be said that already hasn't been touched upon.

My fondest memory of Povall in all the MC antics.

The night everyone was wanting Benediction to drop for their healer for the first time. It finally drops and low and behold standing with the most DKP Povall. LOL Made me laugh today thinking of that moment. so many pissed off people but he was the smart one saving his DKP for the important rolls!!!

Pat thanks for thinking of me and emailing me to let me know. It means alot. We all know no matter where we are and where we play WoW who our original friends are in this game. I count Povall a friend as well as everyone here on this site. We have all enjoyed many wonderfull times playing together and some sad times moving on from one another, but we all seem to find each other again and again for new adventures.

Though Vortec is still on Alleria I mostly now play on Baelgun with Redhots and Rockcandi my Deathknight. Look me up sometime it would be real nice to play with old friends again.

Rest in peace Carl Grossman You are missed
/Hail Povall

I remember going out on Kent and helping him through the Benediction event.

Povall was a kind man who was always willing to help you. I was lucky knowing and playing with Him for the short time that I did, he will be missed and remembered for the wonderful person he was.

Freedom isn't free. It requires regular sacrifice to keep it.
I have put this off posting here for a while just to sort out my thoughts and feelings to put them down appropriatly.

Povall, how do you explain this special individual. I spend the last few nights at home just sitting there staring at the monitor trying to come up with one word that would describe him. This is what I came up with after my hours of reflection.

LISTENER? -Povall was a good listener. Many of us remember asking his advice on work and personal matters. Things big and small. He listened to our concerns and offered advice freely.

HONEST? -Povall was honest. His word was his bond. We did not have to ask for it in writing. When he told us something, we could believe him.

COMPASSIONATE? -Povall was compassionate. He came to us in our times of need. I never knew him to refuse compassion to anyone in a time of need.

LOYAL? -Povall was loyal. He never told you one thing and another something else. When we were right, he stood up for us. When we were wrong, he helped us see the other side—often to our benefit.

LAUGHTER? -Povall had a great sense of humor. He saw the light side of every situation, and he kept reminding us in our times of desperation or frustration that it was, after all, or a game, or a fight or a word or thoughtless act and we were bigger than that, better than that.

STRENGTH? –Povall was a fighter, I never knew him to back away from a personal challenge, stand up for a friend or too a friend, say what needed to be said or hesitate to throw in even when he knew he was going to lose.

These are my " ONE " words to discribe this individual cause no one word is sufficient in my opinion to share with everyone what type of man I felt he was.

Wait one Minute there is one word that discribes him for me.

" FRIEND "

The memorial at Blackrock Mountain went very well and was a sweet gesture to someone we all knew, cared about, and will miss. Thanks for putting it together Kent.

On a related note, I have posted a suggestion to Blizzard about the possibility of allowing some kind of memorial stone or marker in the game to a fallen commrade. If you wish to show your support, please do at http://forums.worldofwarcraft.com/thread.html?topicId=19595170130&sid=1 .

Thanks!

Jereld
Some photos of the memorial service.
Some more photos as well as a picture of two characters mourning and sharing a moment for perhaps the last time.
I sent the family the link to this thread. They are interested in being able to see the memorial....if you have more pictures and videos and audio recordings...please post them here...

On behalf of the family, thank you for being such good friends to Carl.
